LONDON: British broadcaster BBC News has rejected claims that it has launched an internal investigation into its story regarding Park Lane properties of the ruling Sharif family. “We stand by our journalism and are satisfied that this story meets our editorial standards, including accuracy and impartiality,” said BBC News in a statement on Twitter. “There is no internal investigation into this BBC reporter nor this news story (When were Park Lane flats purchased, or sold?),” the British broadcaster added. The clarification comes following a report by the state-run news agency that the BBC has launched an internal inquiry against its reporter about his “misleading” story on Park Lane flats. According to the agency, the BBC management had accused reporter Ather Kazmi of playing into the hands of a Pakistani political party and presenting old information as new. In its report last Friday, the BBC said that properties owned by the Sharif family in London’s upscale Park Lane neighbourhood were purchased in the 1990s and there had been no change of ownership since then.
